VertiCutting and Dethatching can reduce your thatch so the surface of your soil makes contact with water, fertilizer, and other minerals. Seeing faster results in better and healthier turf for your sports fields.
Thatch is a layer of partially decomposed plant material that builds up on the soil's surface. Thatch restricts movement of air, water and fertilizers into the soil. Excessive thatch also restricts root development and provides a suitable environment for insect and disease problems. Thatch can be removed by a vertical mower. Verti-Cutting/Dethatching helps keep turf healthy by removing the dead vegetation from the thatch layer. This dead vegetation is lifted to the surface by the blades of the vertical mower. Verti-Cutting warm season grasses like Bermuda can be done in the late spring just as green up starts to occur, or when the grass is growing rapidly, This will thicken your warm season grass because of the propagation that occurs in the plant when you cut through it. With right amounts of water and fertilizer this will fill in nicely.
Dethatching cool season grasses in the fall the year is the best time to dethatch also it can be done in early spring, Either time can be followed by reseeding to thicken your stand of grass.
After Verti-Cutting/Dethatching you need to allow at least two to three weeks of recovery before you resuming play.
